The Taber Ranch was originally established in 1867 by the Taber family who wagon trained into Capay from the east to settle down in the valley community. For over a century, the ranch has produced almonds and maintained live stock growing to a 500 acre property from its original purchase of 343 acres. It has remained in the Taber family ever since. As time passed, life happened and careers changed and the ranch became a quiet, but beautiful place with a few acres of ancestor almond trees, some ailing buildings and lots of open rolling hills. This is when the vision and evolution of some new life and purpose for the ranch began. In 2000, the old sheep barn and mule shed began their transformation from dirt covered animal shelters on an old family ranch into the beautiful and versatile venue our guests enjoy today. Over the next ten years ponds and reservoirs were built, hilltops were leveled and the slopes terraced for grapes, 2 acres of Arbequina olives were planted, gardens and plant life matured and the barn is now the home of first dances and toasting to the future. Our first wedding party had the barn surrounded by gravel with a couple of fancy outhouses in the back. It has come a long way thanks to the hard work of several dedicated employees and a visionary owner and will continue to evolve. We encourage everyone to come out and take a tour because it is a truly unique venue in a beautiful valley in a growing community and we are proud so many people are continuing to share in its beauty.
